My Perspective On The awakening of humanity into a broader awareness and a paradigm shift:
The abolishing of the slave trade at the beginning of the 19th century is taught in state sponsored schools and many may have the impression that slavery has ended.
Consider the fact that abusive, exploitive, overt and covert slave-like practices still exist today in many forms. The global financial system is a global debt-slavery system.
Also consider child labor where kids labor from sunrise ’til sunset (12 hours or more also true for adult manufacturing “sweatshops” for Nike, Apple and other corporate giants), and the child/adult sex markets…
[A child is trafficked throughout the world every 30 seconds. There are approximately 100,000 to 300,000 human trafficking victims in the United States.
90 percent of all human trafficking victims in the country are American children with the average age being 13. About 70 percent are deemed throw-a-way kids — those who have run away, are in foster care or are neglected by their parents. Some kids are even sold by their parents for drugs. Only one percent of child trafficking victims are kidnapped.
According to the organization Stop Child Trafficking Now, 2.8 million children run away in the U.S. each year. It is estimated that within 48 hours of hitting the streets one-third of those are then lured or recruited by sex traffickers.
Human trafficking has been reported in all 50 states and while many are trafficked for labor most of the U.S victims are trafficked for sexual servitude. The Justice Department reported that 14,500 to 17,500 foreign nationals are trafficked into the U.S. each year.
Documentaries by news sources fequently despair that countries such as Pakistan are unlikely to end exploitative child labor.
A reuters news report stated: “The problem is that the whole industry has moved into private homes, which has made it a bit difficult to monitor if child labor is being used,” said Hussain Naqi, the national co-ordinator of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan. “This is not just an issue in Sialkot, child labor is occurring all across Pakistan in very dangerous sectors like glass bangle manufacturing, cleaning of oil tankers, poultry farms, motor workshops, brick kilns and small hotels.”
PRISON LABOR FOR PROFIT
The USA has an alarming trend in privatizing facilities within the prison industry. Currently, one out of every 100 Americans is behind bars, making the USA the country with the highest incarceration rates in the world. “Today, the United States has the highest prison population in the world with more than 2 million people either incarcerated in prison or in jail awaiting trial. The United States has the highest documented incarceration rate in the world, surpassing China, North Korea and Russia. A study conducted by the Bureau of Justice in 2005 showed that a record 33-year continuous rise in the number of inmates in the USA despite falling crime rates.”
