A free social network?

Facing the over-abundance of corporate involvement in social media, I’ve been thinking, what if we could make a free social network? And by free, I mean more than it being $0 to join, I mean a community of volunteer programmers and server administrators erect a social network that is free of advertisement, survey, monitoring, or anything other than what the network is intended to do.

I exited the Television viewership several years ago after listening to the CEOs of the 6 major media empires all say in agreement that the public could walk away from their (corporate controlled empire) by simply not watching.
Sure they do not expect a significant percentage to stop watching, but what if they were and are WRONG?
Cable and satellite annual subscription fees are a bugger for low incomes, and the cultural engineering schemes programmed for television are more advanced and effective than ever.
Do you want to be “BRAIN-WASHED”, manipulated and under Mind Control?
I did not and thus I quit and so have many others.

Do I miss it?
No.
I have found joyful and educational replacements.
I have moved on, and I’m happy without TV.
I recently (early year 2012) Left Google too.
That was more difficult for me.
I left my Youtube channel, my chrome, my Gmail, my favorite search-engine and Blogspot accounts.
But, hey Google is now owned by corporate-government and led by a trans-humanist dictator and I actually am aligning with my inner-peace and inner-vision.
I am convinced I made the correct choice for me.
I, even, took the time and made the effort to write a detailed note why I was leaving all their dictatorial policies where they claim limited liability and intentionally plan to make more unexpected changes for the explicit reason to reduce costs and increase profits even when they know it will have the opposite effect on their users and customers. No consideration (oh, excuse me but a secondary consideration to primary profit is no consideration at all) for my joy, my thoughts, my freedom, my privacy, my right to not be brainwashed by constant ads with unwanted cookies, laden with malware viruses, raising my stress level as a user that unwittingly generate profits for them.

When major corporations become too stubborn in their one-way policies (it is our-way because we care more about the revenue streams increasing each year or the highway for you and your joy and liberties) then I will take the “highway” each time.

I value my liberty and freedom. The inconvenience is only a minor challenge and opportunity awaiting a creative being to recognize.

I say yes to the great opportunities for developing:
Freedom Software;
Freedom video-streaming-better-than-youtube website
Freedom social-site-better-than-twitter-and-facebook website
Freedom Music-download-site that actually, directly, rewards the artists rather than Mega-corporations.

I can envision this freedom movement sweeping all aspects of social life.
Be ready for some temporary and minor inconveniences to transition to global Liberation, Peace and Prosperity.
Change is on the way!
