May 21, 2014 – California Senate Votes 29-1 to Ban “Material
Support, Participation or Assistance” to NSA.
“What no country has been able to take from the U. S. through force,
the NSA is taking in the dark of night. …I can’t imagine the NSA would
want to locate here in California… We’re trying to use the 10th Amendment
to enforce the Fourth Amendment.” -Joel Anderson, 36th Dist. State Senator, San Diego, California
Other state legislatures trying to clamp down on NSA are in Michigan and Utah — the site of the new NSA massive spy operation called the Utah Data Center. Further, a bill was introduced by Maryland Republicans that would cut off funding for the NSA’s Fort Meade, Maryland, headquarters. In 2014, the bill died in committee. But many legislators are eager to resurrect the bill in another session.
