The current empire meme is based on a model of scarcity, with institutional domination and control it has a ruling elite vision that has been expressed countless times in popular culture.
George Orwell, George Lucas, and many others have shared this empire, control meme in their stories.
It is a destructive vision of planetary empire and World Wars, then interstellar empire and Star Wars.

The game is Eve Online, trapped in the current control meme, it has fast, dramatic, exciting edited clips of actual game-play, however what it does not highlight is the criminality in the game, nor the agonizing player losses to devious pirate-players that steal your hard earned goods or money. The emotional and genuine anger of players cursing and complaining at being robbed or killed is absent, and from my first hand experience with Eve Online revealed that slavery, fraud, theft, fear and anger is a big part of the game.
