Here We Go Again: JP Morgan being probed by Justice Department

Apparently the government protection racket wants more cash for their regulatory and “protection services”.
The fees and fines keep going up at a more rapid pace each quarter. I say this because the probe has been placed in civil investigations rather than criminal investigations.

J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. said the Justice Department is conducting a criminal investigation on its foreign-exchange-related matters, according to a regulatory filing released by the bank Monday.
The Justice Department is working alongside other regulators focusing on civil enforcement, as talks on foreign exchange settlements heat up with several banks and regulators across U.S. and Europe, according to people familiar with the matter.

The largest U.S. bank by assets said the investigations focus on its spot foreign-exchange trading activities and controls related to those activities.
The company added it continues to cooperate with the investigations and discussions with regulators and civil enforcement authorities.
The bank said there is “no assurance that such discussions will result in settlements.”
